Private Dog Training in Raleigh

Doing private lessons with your dog is a great way to increase your dog’s skills, build a bond with your dog, and develop your leadership skills. You learn and practice dog handling as we teach both you and your dog. We will teach Sit, Down, Place, as well as work on a really nice walk. During this time, we can also address any behavior issues you might have such as jumping on people or pulling on the leash.

Private lessons with you and your dog gives us the flexibility to practice a variety of things and to tailor the dog training lessons for you. We can spend the lesson in your home, looking at your dog and how he reacts to that environment. We can go out to a busy area to help you practice walking your dog with lots of distractions. It’s all about what works for you!

Some examples of private lessons with you and your dog that we have done:

  • Nail trimming
  • Rushing the door
  • Puppy training
  • Crate training
  • Polite bathing
  • Getting the dog to stop begging guests for affection
  • Getting into the car
  • Not pulling up or down stairs
  • Muzzle conditioning
  • Garbage diving

When training your dog, we use leash and prong collar. The prong collar provides such a clear system of communication with your dog that it is much easier to teach your dog a foundation of basic commands and behavior that you can practice at home. After the private lesson, we ask that you practice 10 or 15 minutes per day until the next lesson, so that both you and your dog get really good at that particular skill we picked to work on.

** One added benefit of 1 on 1 training is that some dogs will not take food from strangers (the trainer) right away so it is great that the owner is there to work the dog if this is the case. **

If your dog knows all the basics, you can also do advanced private lesson sessions, where we teach you and your dog e-collar obedience. We use state-of-the-art, low-level, communication-style E-Collar training with E-Collars from E-collar Technologies. Our E-Collar program is not anything like the E-Collars of old. Contemporary E-Collar Training utilizes the softest, most gentle remote communication, and is one of the most humane and effective approaches to dog training available. This is only after the dog knows the basics, taught with luring, clicker training, or leash pressure. Once the dog has a solid understanding of basic obedience commands, we layer the e-collar pressure over the learned commands. This way, we fairly teach the dog reliable obedience and exactly what the e-collar pressure means with each command.

Private lessons with you and your dog is for dogs who need good basic obedience but don’t have any major issues such as aggression, fear, or anxiety.

Rates: 4 Sessions for $595 (includes 4 sessions approximately 1-1.5 hrs long).  If you do not already have prong collar (I recommend Herm Sprenger brand for dogs over 20lbs and Kimberland Collars for the smaller dogs), I can provide one for $30.
